Je m'appelle nadini et je viens de colombo en la Srilankais
I thought that "Y" cannot be used with regard to people. But have just been given a correct answer as Il pense à sa famille. Elle y pense aussi. Is family not a unit of people?
If, as mentioned, most people use the subjonctif after "après que", wouldn't it be odd to a francophone to hear the passé composé?
Après que je SUIS allé????
Even school teachers would say " Après que je SOIS allé"
Hello. Why is it written de chansons and not des chansons? I was writing a translation of "write song lyrics". and it said the translation was "écrire des paroles de chansons." why is it de chansons and not des chansons?
I am really struggling in Mon,ma,mes and ton ta tes. Could you please help me?
After eighteen months of study I still can't really understand this. 'Les Français mangeaient les escargots' seems to be ok as an alternative to 'des escargots'. But 'Tout ce qui ressemble à la viande rouge' as an alternative to 'de la viande rouge' is not. To me it's the same kind of statement; and to have to say 'ressemble à de la viande rouge' sounds like 'resembles some red meat'...
Maybe it's just on my end but the "avoir" example has "eu" and "pris" examples under it.
Please: could someone please explain why the "de" is necessary in the following sentence:
"Il avait trop bu la veille de l'accident. "
I don't understand the need for the "de" following "la veille."
Thanks in advance!
Kalpana
