The question doesn't specify whether the pain is physical or emotional, don't understand why answer is incorrect.
In the sentence which begins as "As for Grandad, he would slump into...", there are several acceptable choices for "slump into", including s'effondrer and s'affaler. I chose s'écrouler based on a definition in Wordreference. This was not accepted. Should it have been?
'Après avoir considéré de faire peindre le mur' why is "DE" used? is 'considéré de' an expression
'plutôt que de remettre du papier peint' why is there "DE" here too?
Why is 'penser a' here, but not 'penser de' (opinion). Wouldn't it might be good to know that in addition to 'y' for a clause with 'a'; that 'en' for a clause with 'de' is appropriate (and, I think, clearer than just another 'le')?

My translate app keeps correcting un évènement to un événement. I used the latter in this exercise and the result was that my answer matched, when it did not. Please explain which is correct. Thank you.
My husband, who is French, is adamant that 'avoir' is not used with apparu. Is it that this is a regional usage (eg Quebec v France or even South of France v Paris where he's from)? Or is it just uncommon? Otherwise, like many a native speaker, he could simply be mistaken!
In this sentence, "Je veux que tu saches qu'il veut que tu viennes", why not "qu'il veuille" subjunctive in place of "qu'il veut?"

Why is it the Canal du Midi and not the Canal de Midi, given that Midi describes the Canal and not the Midi is possessive of the Canal.
I cannot here the "de" in this sentence: on a même échangé nos numéros de téléphone !
