Why passé composé Why not imparfait

In the sentence the weather was nice for whole week, so we should have used il faisait but you have used il a fait please explain

Difficult to explain. Something that often helps is to formulate the sentence using continuous form in English. If it works, this is an indication that imperfect might be indicated.

So, ask yourself, would you say, in English:" it was being nice all week" or "it was nice all week".
