La bouche pleine

On the phrase On ne doit pas parler la bouche pleine, how come avec is not necessary to translate it to "with the mouth full"?

Bonjour Diego,

The preposition "avec" can be used with "parler" but not to express "with the mouth full":

Il parle avec aisance = He speaks with ease

Marc parle avec son collègue =Marc speaks with his colleague

Ton fils parle bien le français = Your son speaks French well

Il parle la bouche pleine = He speaks with the mouth full

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Salut Diego,

You raise an interesting point.

Normally we would expect to see the verb parler being used with a preposition (intransitive usage).

In this case, the verb is being used with a direct object (transitive usage), The direct object is "la bouche pleine".

I see this as being "a style" of speaking albeit rather impolite, but grammatically valid.

Let's see what a staff expert can offer to further clarify this grammatical structure.

Bonne continuation.

Jim
