I used revenir for "coming home". Is this wrong? And when should we use each verb?

In the example, “Achète-t-il des pâtes?”:

“achète” technically ends in a vowel but it ends in a T sound, right? So why is the extra “t” necessary?

I don’t understand why this translates in the present as well as in the historic past?

Maintenant, il faut que nous attendions Noël !

How would we best translate this ?

WordReference has a fixed expression  "il serait temps" as "It's about time", so how does these sound ?

"It's about time to find a solution ! "

"It's about time a solution is found !"   (Think I like this better than the first one).
