Is it 'des' because the reference is to some brown hair? I thought it always had to be: les cheveux !
Also, DES lèvres fines , but DE dents blanches! Cecile's response below indicates that "de" = of, while the 'des' related to thin lips means some? Would really appreciate clarification.
Can I say ... 'Je n'ai pas un stylo'
That'd be fine right?
What is the meaning of écrin ? It's not clear from searching the french dictionaries.
Hello, I am a little confused on what makes the following example a general statement: La jupe coûte 30 euros. - C’est cher!
Based off another lesson on using C’est vs il/elle est, it seems to me like the above statement is commenting on a specific item and should instead be:
La jupe coûte 30 euros. - Elle est chère!
What is the difference here? Merci!
Tu veux venir à la piscine ? Oui, je le veux.
Why not?
Oui, je la piscine.
The English translations of the futur anterieur listed here don't make sense to me. For example, "you will have been able to sing on stage" -- what does that even mean?
It does make more sense if the word "would'' was used in the English translation. As in: "If you had been there, you would have been able to sing on stage." But to use "will" doesn't seem correct.
Why isn't 'attentif' not acceptable as well as 'attentionné' in the sentence: "Il est très attentionné..."?
I am working on an iPad.. that is a horrible phrase to type and 75% of it unnecessary!
Does anyone agree?
I seem to recall that when using the subjunctive in English we would use "may." I don't see "may" used in any of the English translations. Is my understanding of the use of "may" out of date or just plain wrong? Thanks!
