Is there a difference of meaning between these two words? If yes, what is it?
I found Chris' post very helpful. Merci! What remains unclear is the use of de qui. Couple of specific questions 1) Can I say both "La fille dont je parle" or "la fille de qui je parle"? Or does the verbal clause (parler de) require dont even if it's a person? 2) Do I use de qui with a prep phrase in stead of duquel (and its derivatives)? For example, "La fille près de qui je me suis assise" Would "'de laquelle" be equally acceptable in that sentence?
The above sentence was part of a quiz. Does sur not take a modifier? Shouldn't it be sur l'internet?
The question and answer: J'ai fini. - Write "I didn't finish." : Je n'ai pas fini
makes me wonder... In English 'I have not finished' implies you are still working on it, whereas 'I did not finish' implies that you are not still working on it (e.g. you ran out of time in an exam). It looks as if the passé composé could mean either of these. Right? If so, what is the easiest way to make this distinction in French?
why not use "exiger" for require, demand. ça demand = ça exige ?
