I'm very confused with devoir and which tense to use now, as your lesson said devoir in imperfect meant "supposed to do" and perfect meant "had to do", yet you use the imperfect to say "had to do" here ? Can you please explain and also explain what that lesson actually means as it doesn't seem to be relevant?
Why do we have Office de Tourisme, amateur de vin, Miroir d'Eau, amateurs d'histoire, protégé de France ( why not de La France?)
but, Cité du Vin, de l'histoire du vin, Fontaine des 3 Grâces?
Then why is "nous nous sommes brossé" correct? shouldn't it be "brosses"????
I thought the future tense should be used after quand or lorsque. So, shouldn't this phrase be, lorsqu'on visitera un nouveau lieu.
Is there a difference between "Nous mangerons dans 30 minutes" and "Nous mangeons dans 30 minutes"? My understanding is that it's a subtle difference (e.g, "we will sit down to eat 30 minutes from now" vs. "we're sitting down to eat 30 minutes from now"), but both ultimately refer to the beginning of the action in the future.
Why is "c'est bon" used here instead of "elle est bonne", when it's expressing opinion over something specific that you know the gender of already?
Bonjour,
Would it be correct to say
Une belle robe
A pretty dress
Un bel Enfant
A beautiful child
Merci
Nicole
Why is this in the past tense? I thought it was ongoing and background information, and so used imparfait (which was incorrect). Thanks in advance.
