La vs. leAsked to translate "Bernard sends it to her" I would have expected something like "Bernard le lui envoit". Instead, The answer given is "Bernard la lui envoit". Can you shed light on this?

Placement of "long""long" is listed here and elsewhere as an adjective that goes before the noun, so how come there are approximately the same number of hits on google for "longs cheveux" and "cheveux longs" (including quotation marks to preserve order) ?

Passé simple and passé composé mixed in literature?

I am reading "Le Petit Prince" and noticed that sometimes, passé composé is used in the description (NOT the dialogue) instead of passé simple. In simple sentences like "J'ai ainsi vécu seul" and "J'ai vu un petit bonhomme tout à fait extraordinaire".

There are instances where you can (or *have to*???) use passé composé in literature? I can't find any pattern so can someone explain this to me?

la pomme de terreBonjour et excuse moi :) For the potato that we say la pomme de terre, why don't we say "la pomme de la terre" ? I mean shouldnt we use le /la/les as possesive after de?? Merci beaucoup

Could you also say "C'est tres bon?" Instead of "Il est tres bon?"
