Another depuis-question!!!"I have lived in Paris for one year." means that the speaker has, in the past, lived in Paris but isn't living there anymore. Therefore, I would expect "J'ai habité à Paris depuis un an." to be the correct translation. But, alas, "J'habite à Paris depuis un an." is provided as correct. However, does that not imply that the speaker is still living in Paris???? -- Chris.

BANGS adjectives?This lesson is kind of confusing me. At school I learned that the superlative must come after the noun unless the adjective would come before the noun, and in that case the placement would be a choice. The French About page on superlatives also states this rule. So wouldn't "Marie est la plus intelligente fille de la classe" be incorrect?

Stress pronouns lui and elle.I am still confused about the stress pronouns lui and elle. Is there a reason why lui is used as a stress pronoun with manquer (à), but elle is not?

"on" vs "tu" and "vous" for you"I have been taking the writing challenge to test it out for future use with my students. I notice that when translating a 'you' statement the correct responses never include the option for using 'tu' or 'vous' and instead rely on using only 'on'. I understand the benefit of teaching the impersonal 'on' but feel that the 'tu' and 'vous' versions of the sentence should also be counted as correct. The 'on' pronoun in my understanding of spoken French is more commonly used as 'we' though it of course can be interpreted in many ways. I wonder if requiring it to be the only translation accepted for a 'you' statement might be leading the students toward a misunderstanding of the pronoun. Thanks for listening!
