je vais mal vs je suis malade

What is the difference between mal and malade? It looks like aller is used for mal and être for malade, but what's the difference. There's also "j'ai mal" using avoir, (not in this lesson). But given the context in comparison to this lesson, I'm guessing j'ai mal is used to say specifically where it hurts, but I'm not understanding the other two.

Écouter takes direct object pronoun?From the lesson: J'aime l'écouter. (I like to listen to him.) Écouter = to listen to Isn't this use of 'him' an example of an indirect object, and therefore, "J'aime lui écouter", correct? Unless écouter isn't a verb that's usually by à, but it sure seems that it is.

Usage of angle brackets in FrenchI have seen words or phrases in in French texts, but I haven't been able to find an explanation of what they are used for. Are they just used for emphasis, or do they mean something else?

Mon aussi

Why is it I very occasionally see “mon aussi” appear as a correct translation of "me too" as well as "moi aussi”?

Even Google Translate has this marked with a tick and I must say it does ring a bell from learning French in School years ago. Does it have anything to do with two vowels appearing next to each other of "moi aussi”?
