Ne que vs seulementJe trouve que l’utilisation de ‘ne serait que pour les garder en vie’ is unnecessarily complicated given the context of the sentence. My preference would be ‘pour seulement les garder en vie’. But I like your emphasis on the use and position of seulement and que. The vast majority of English speakers position the word ‘only’ incorrectly. It drives me crazy!

piétiner v attendreIn my experience piétiner is often a good translation for "wait", especially where it's an aggravately wait that leaves you walking up and down. A little guidance on this might be helpful..........max

avoir un exam?Is "avoir un exam" an idiom for passing an exam? Just wondering about the translation for one of the example sentences. I was thinking to pass the exam might be more like "Je veux que vous reussissiez tous votre examen?" and that the sentence above using avoir is referring to all taking or having exams? Merci pour l'aide !

mauvais an adverb here?: "Il faisait mauvais hier"

Bonjour,

Mauvais is usually an adjective, but is it being used as an adverb when we say the weather is bad?

e.g. il fait mauvais.

or is it still being an adjective, and is modifying the noun: 'the weather' (replaced here by the pronoun: "it"), please?
