I still remember the first time I saw "Mother", at the London Museum of Modern Art a few years ago. This sculpture of a 9-metre-high steel spider had taken my breath away ! That's when I started reading everything that I could find on Louise Bourgeois. Although she was born in Paris in 1911, she spent most of her artistic career in the US, hence her decision to become an American citizen in 1951. In her works, this prolific artist explored a variety of themes such as everyday life, the body and the paradoxical feelings of love and frustration that one can experience within one's own family, feelings Louise herself suffered from her entire life.

Clever stuff happening!
