Hi John,

As Kate says 'les élèves français' ( meaning Fench pupils in general) is taken as a mixture of both masculine élèves and feminine élèves.

Please note that the noun élève can refer to a boy or a girl :

un élève brilliant

une élève brilliante

Bonne Continuation!

Because élèves can be solely masculine or could refer to a mixed class

pluriel adjectif ?

Pourquoi "les élèves français" au lieu de "les élèves françaises"?
