Il met les mains dans les poches?

For the English "He put his hands in his pockets." I wrote "Il met les mains dans ses poches." however, it was corrected to "Il met les mains dans les poches.".

This doesn't seem correct to me however I cannot find the example again in the exercises.

Would anybody be able to advise?

Hi Blair,

I agree that it doesn't sound correct in English where we naturally describe the ownership of the pockets.

This is not the case in French however, the context is expected to imply the ownership unless it is expressly qualified otherwise.

Let's hear from other commentators --  this is my understanding however.
