In the last sentence, the speaker says he can't eat salad without bread and "salad" is expressed as "de salade." Shouldn't it be "de la salade?"
"De" and "des" has puzzled me for years. I interpret this as "dolphin show" or "show of dolphins" which would be the grammatical equivalent of "la mère de Paul." But, the right answer is "des." That would seem to be "I would like to see the show some dolphins" in my mind. Can somebody help me with the grammar that applies here?
Why is it "la Belgique" in 2 out of 3 of the above phrases? Why isn't it "les frites viennent de la Belgique?"
In this example: “une blonde comme le soleil fille” I said it was correct. But I think it means, in English, “a blonde like the sun girl”. If so would the correct answer have been “Une blonde comme la fille soleil” ? Thanks.
Salut. "Dont" c'est un pronom relatif qui me confond toujours -- quelquefois je me sens que je le comprends un peu mieux.
"Un traitement antirétroviral prophylactique est proposé à celles dont la test est positif"
Pourquoi dont? avec quoi s'accord il? peut-on dire ".... a celles pour qui la test est positif"?
Instead of "... améliorer mon français" could we use "... m'améliorer le français" ?
I’ve been looking for the main difference with avoir besoin de and avoir envie de and thought I got it when you say that avoir envie de is to feel/need to DO SOMETHING!
But then the first question to answer is J’ai envie d’une nouvelle voiture and that blew it out the water.
I am confused again! Why use one over the other in this simple context?
Thank you
I fear I may be forever confused by your explanations of manquer whatever. I'm in favor of the spaced repetitions method but I think your system puts too much conflicting information in at one time. I need to let manquer fade from my memory and then try another approach. Any suggestions?
