Bon jour.
If indirect speech is in the present tense, is it necessary to replace ce/cette/etc with something?
E.g.
Sophie demande à Oliver: “Explique-moi cette règle !”
Elle lui demande de lui expliquer cette règle-là.
Because in the indirect speech we don't know what is "cette" règle.
Help me plsssss
I used 'du coup' instead of 'donc' but it wasn't given as an option.
I hope it’s OK to pose a vocabulary question - at first I took this to mean the dog has taken the person’s food, but today I came across a module in Duolingo (apologies...) translating "croquettes" as "kibble", ie dog food. Is that the intended meaning?
In the last sentence, "I will go there to cheer you on.", the word 'there' is translated as 'là' and the use of 'y' was not accepted. Is it just a question of emphasis? I searched for a lesson to clarify the usage of 'y' and 'là' but was not successful. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
In the 'Fill-the-blanks' Kwiz 'Nos activites pendant les vacances', my answer: 'Les enfants essaieront la peche a pied avec un guide local' was marked wrong, with the correction provided of 'Les enfants essaierons ...' The correction Kwiziq shows is 1st person plural, but I thought that 'The kids will try shellfish gathering with a local guide' is 3rd person plural.
Au secours! Merci!
This question was asked in a previous quiz, and the answer was you cannot tell the gender of the ‘“amie”. I understand that the ending e makes it a female friend, but if the question is verbalized, that is not available information. In the quiz I just took, the answer is ‘a woman’. I am confused as to how to answer this question in future quizzes, as two different answers have been given.
Pourquoi pas "une cocarde bleue et rouge"...... ?
