Why is fut used in the above, rather than était. To the best of my knowledge, we have not been introduced to the Historic?
Hi. I thought negative opinions were followed by the subjunctive and translated the above sentence thus: Je ne pensais pas que ce soit si intéressant. Is that incorrect?
Thanks
should it not be "ces sont des amours" rather than "ce sont des amours"?
I am having a difficult time deciding when devoir is appropriate and when it is not. All the other applications, I am ok with. But if devoir implies "must have" why is a purse a necessity? Why not just Avoir besoin? And why is sleep NOT a necessity (or I may be getting this confused at this point). This is getting to be more of a guessing/memorization thing than an actual understanding thing. I see from the previous posts that this has been discussed ad infinitum so it's not just me. Any easy way to decide when to use devoir and when NOT to use it in this context?
Thanks
It seems that inoubliable is an adjective for année, with "et ce film" being only an interjection, so that inoubliable should be singular. If it were written "qui rendront cette année et ce film" then the plural would be required.
In this sentence where is the "you" as the sentence in English was "or we could give you a refund"? why are these English words just being omitted and how are we meant to know when to omit them?
"by punching a wall" - how does this translate to the above and why? the phrase is "donner un coup de poing" so why is it "un" replaced with "des" here? and why is "dans le mur" when it says "punching A wall"?
In the listening exercise: Choisir ses études (A2), shouldnt the adjective fascinant be feminine given its referent 'La Psychologie'?
The text in question.
Je vais étudier la Psychologie parce que je trouve ça fascinant.
Please advise. THanks
I used bon marché for cheap instead of donné. Is there a reason why that wouldn’t be an alternative option in this context: les vols transatlantiqus ne sont pas donnés ?
