I think Il a économisé en secret should have been accepted
Besides 'comme celles que j'avais eues les premiers mois', one of the recommended translations of 'like the ones that I'd had during the first few months' is 'telles que j'avais eues pendant les premiers mois'.
But the antecedent is 'une hallucination'.
So shouldn't this option be 'telle que j'avais eue pendant les premiers mois'...?
Are these sentences incorrect [see: French is Fun Book 1 / 2020)]? (1) Le père de Roger est un artiste. (2) La mère de Marie est une championne de karate.
I wrote "Notre Salade aux Trois Fromages est [...] et assez copieuse" which was marked as incorrect. Looking at Le Robert, copieux is given as a synonym of consistant so I'm wondering why?
Does copieux mean more that the dish is physically large (ie a lot of food) whereas consistant just means it's filling but doesn't given any indication to the size of the meal?
Hi, I feel that the “p” sound is completely missing from “pour” in “pour l'infaillible soutien que vous nous avez montré ces dix derniers mois.”.
Is it missing? If so, is this an audio file error, or a genuine French way of speaking at the C1 level?
Bonjour,
Comment faut-il dire "not again" si ce n'est pas "pas encore"?
Merci en avance!
I used revenir for "coming home". Is this wrong? And when should we use each verb?
Thanks.
PS it's almost impossible to do À - it changes to à
I think the more I listen to French, the worse I get...
I'm so depressed!
Hello,
I just started B2 and I had a hard time understanding a lot of this. I'm wondering if I should go back to a B1 level for awhile. Please let me know whether this is normal.
Thank you
Regarding this test question and my wrong answer and correct answer: “How would you say "One has to earn others' respect." in French?
Il faut gagner le respect des autres. (Correct)
Il faut gagner le respect d’autres. (My wrong answer)
I’ve read the lesson numerous times as well as the discussion below and nothing explains why I was marked wrong on this question. Is there something about “il faut” that is like “se server de” in the lesson’s example that would require “DES autres” instead of “d’autre”? The translation is not “of THE others”, just the more general “others”.
