Could the postman say “je fais un boulot important”?
The following answer is given as correct: 'J'ai eu peur que nous soyons arrivés trop tard'.
My question is: given its 'negative ' sentiment shouldn't the answer include the 'ne expletif'?
To stay at a hotel should be dormir à l'hôtel.
Je rends souvent service à mes amis- what does it mean? Can you explain, please?
I needed to Google ‘Roland Garros’ to find out that it was the name of what I’m sure most of us know as The French Open. I thought it must be a player so answered accordingly. Thank you for accepting my answer even though it was incorrect!
Can you please tell the meaning of 'en' in the below sentence?
E.g. "Un mot est ajouté à la fin d'une phrase pour en faire une question."
What does 'pour en faire' mean literally?
For "breast" in breast of duck, the exercise uses "magret". Can you explain why? LaRousse defines "magret" as "Fillet of duck fattened for the production of foie gras.", which does not seem to be the same thing, as clearly not all ducks are forced fed to make foie gras; and clearly it would be redundant to say «de canard»
I used blanc, which seems a lot closer: «Partie charnue d'une volaille qui tient à la carcasse.» but is not accepted.

The speech for "parmi lesquelles un quiz de l'année qui vient de s'écouler, " is extremely unclear, and I was unable to figure it out. I played it to someone who is a native French speaker, and she couldn't figure it out either. It's the "quiz de l'année" part that is really bad.
Could anybody help me with the form of the word: 'cochant'?
I have learned third person plural conjugation is cochent, but this word 'cochant' I couldn't find in a dictionary.
As you know, cocher is infinitive form of verb but what about cochant? Please!
The original context: "Répondez aux questions en cochant la ou less bonne response."
Please help me!
Can I ask about the following sentence: "Now, remember that at the time" —> Maintenant, rappelez-vous qu'à l'époque"
In the English sentence "Now," functions as a filler, rather than meaning literally "at the moment" - you could as easily say "Well," or "So," without changing the sense of the narrative. I was expecting "donc" or "alors" and wonder if it’s common to use "maintenant’ like this?
