In the exercise about the new green car with the brown leather seats, one alternate answer was ‘Ils sont fait en cuir.’ The best answer was ‘Il sont en cuir’. Present tense. Was the alternate answer in passe compose? If so, wouldn’t that be ‘ils ont fait en cuir?’

Hi Ted,
The sentence -
Ils sont fait en cuir = They are made of leather
is a sentence in a passive voice so the verb is still in the present but as a passive verb -
être fait de
rather than the active verb -
faire
Take a look at the following lesson to explain this further if need be -
