I remember hearing people sing a translation of Davy Crockett that included the line "l'homme qui n'a jamais peur."  Can't "the fearless Gaul" also be translated as "le Gaulois sans peur"?

Hi Amanda,

Yes, you could say both of the things you suggest, it all depends on how many syllables are required particularly in the case of 'La ballade de Davy Crockett '.

Including a  YouTube of the latter which transported me back to when I was young! Hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks for the link, Amanda. It's a nice performance. In English that line was, "king of the wild frontier." What an ear-worm – it still runs through my head after all these years! ;-)
