Négociations autour le capitulation patine

Je ne comprends pas le verbe “patiner” dans ce cadre, où il veut dire “Come to a standstill.” Je cherche des définitions, mais je suis pas arrivé à le reconciler le traduction.

Hi T,

Normally the verb 'patiner' means to skate, here, taken in its figurative sense it is:

ne pas avancer, manquer d'efficience , although I do admit that the metaphor is quite contradictory.

Having said that, in the context of negotiations, it will be understood as just not making any headway

There is a meaning of patiner which refers to negotiations. In this context it takes a meaning of "to be at a virtual standstill" or "to be making no headway" I suppose the normal meaning of "to slip" with respect to skating may be loosely linked in the sense that the negotiations "are slipping" ie making no progress.

Hope this may help you.
