Bonjour Gary,

In French you could say:

Il me reste du ragoût I have some leftover stew

Il reste du ragoût = There is some leftover stew

However, in this text, you cannot use either expressions as the sentence would not make any sense like in English:

J’ai renversé il me reste du ragoût =I spilled I have some leftover stew
J’ai renversé mon reste de ragoût = I spilled my leftover stew

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
