I am going to go and I will go seem the same in English. Can they be used this way in French? Is it a matter of preference?
Marva is asking how to choose which to use. Are the future proche and aller interchangeable?

Marva is asking how to choose which to use. Are the future proche and aller interchangeable?
This question relates to:French lesson "Conjugate reflexive verbs in the near future in French using aller + infinitive (Le Futur Proche)"

Hi Sherry,
In the absence of unambiguous context, these expressions are not the same in English nor French.
The point here is near future or future? in each language we are expressing a near future or future situation. Going to do something (near future) gives a sense of immediacy whereas the future gives a sense of some time further out than the above ie. beyond immediacy.
Hope this helps explain.
Jim
