Hello Faustina,
While "lutter" means fight, I don't see it as the appropriate word for this particular case. "lutter" refers more to an effort than to a physical fight.
For example, I could say "Je lutte contre le paludisme". That means "I am fighting malaria". It's obviously not a physical battle.
"Combattre", however, refers to a physical fight.
