Liaison between pas and assez

Another question ...

I noticed that there is no liaison between pas and assez in the audio of this lesson, but they also can be read as "pazassez", right?

Hi Tecla, 

After the negative 'pas' and 'plus', we have what is called an optional liaison.

i.e.

Je ne plus envie d'aller au cinéma = I don't feel like going to the cinema any longer

Je n'ai pas envie d'aller au cinéma = I don't feel like going to the cinema

a

can be pronounced either 

Je n'ai pas // envie ...

or

Je n'ai paZenvie ...

Je n'ai plus // envie ...

or

Je n'ai pluZenvie ...

Yes, you can either liaise or not with «pas assez» There are some required liaisons, some forbidden and many optional. In everyday speech, optional liaisons are quite often not pronounced, but they remain very much alive, especially in formal speech. The following links should helpful:
