Are "l’autre soir" and "l’autre nuit" synonymous? Or different?

Hi Drew,
I think we are more precise in French as to the time of the day -
L'autre soir = the other evening
L'autre nuit = the other night
For instance, you would use, l'autre nuit if you were saying -
J'ai mal dormi l'autre nuit = I slept badly the other night
But you would use 'soir' if you were referring to an evening out as in this example.
Patrice est venu nous voir l'autre soir = Patrice popped in to see us the other night (evening)
Having said that,
we use 'Bonsoir!' for 'Goodnight!'
