What is the difference between "j'aime bien" and "j'aime beaucoup?" I wrote "j'aime beaucoup toutes les couleurs," and "beaucoup" was marked incorrect. Thanks!

J'aime bien vs. j'aime beaucoup
This question relates to:French writing exercise "Do you like theme parks?"
Asked 4 years ago
Hi Peter,
The English was -
I like all the colours
so, 'j'aime beaucoup' is too strong.
The two possibilities given are -
J'aime or J'aime bien toutes les couleurs
but in the case of -
I love theme parks = J'adore/J'aime beaucoup les parcs d'attractions
so it is a case of intensity and here is the Kwiziq lesson explaining the differences -
Hope this helps!

Suggest that it is a matter of context.
For example. Are you wanting to express in the sense of "de manière satisfaisante" bien, or in the sense of "intensément", beaucoup. Both are adverbs modifying "aime" but whichever is the most appropriate will depend upon the context.
Hope that you will find this helpful.
