Hi Peter, I think you're referring to the hint in one of the Kwiz questions for this lesson?

The hint is "Conjugate conduire (to drive) in Le Futur Proche", not "use the future of to drive". Does that clear things up?

Hi Peter,

"Le Futur Proche" is a specific form of future tense which uses present tense conjugation of aller + infinitive of a verb. We call this the "near future" in English (although it's a misleading name in both languages as we use also this form to describe far off events e.g. I'm going to go to America after I graduate in 2025).

In Kwiziq's hints, if a "tense" is named specifically like this, then it's telling you exactly which form Kwizbot wants to test you on.

Past, Present and Future tense categories have multiple "tense-mood-aspect" forms within them. You're probably thinking "the future" is simply "Le Futur" but to distinguish the near future form from the simple future, we will call the latter "Le Futur Simple" or "Le Futur" but if you see "Le Futur Proche" then it means this specific form.

Hope that helps!
