Il pose vs il demande
Can i use il demande des questions?
Asked 4 years ago
Hi Cathlyn,
You will only use 'poser' with 'question' but you could say -
Je vais vous demander quelque chose = I am going to ask you something
However,
Je vais vous poser une question = I am going to ask you a question
Hope this helps!

Il pose une question is correct. I don't think "demander" can be used in that way.

Demander in English translation has meaning similar to 'to ask for', and is used in request (not in a demand as it may sound to English speakers ears) - as we don't normally 'ask for a question', it won't usually fit (although we could and then it may be used). Poser works well by comparison to the English use of 'pose a question'.
