Hi Brian, I'm afraid you can't remove topics from the dashboard studyplan. If you want full control over what to practise and learn then you can use your notebook for that. You can choose whatever you want to put in that and then test against those lessons only. However, whilst I know it may not seem important to learn the passé simple, I would actually strongly recommend you do learn it. In level B2, our lessons are only about recognising it (not producing it) and this is a really valuable skill since almost all French books are written in it. It's a key reading skill that opens up a whole world of French content to you and it's not that hard to learn, in fact. It's almost impossible to read French books without it and that severely limits your learning options. Hope that helps!

I'm wondering if passe simple is used in other forms of written French--letter writing, diary writing, newspaper articles, magazine articles, etc., or is it really only used for published literature?

Hi Lorie,

I've seen it in magazine articles, on historic statues around Paris and other major cities, in museums on art exhibit placards/labels, etc. It's a fundamental part of knowing French.

I have no wish to learn the past historic, how can I remove this from my study plan?
