French for "Away"
In "Quand le chat n'est pas là, les souris dansent," "n'est pas là" would direclty translate to "is not there." What else could one use to imply "away" ?

Bonjour Aakriti,
There is not a direct translation for ‘away’ in French.
Away as adjective:
Il est parti = he is away
Elle sera absente jusqu’à lundi = she will be away until Monday
Away as adverb / adverbial phrase:
Ma famille habite loin d’ici = my family lives a long way away
Au loin on entendait du bruit = from away in the distance one could hear a noise
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée!
