Faire with Musical Instruments?

Faire with Musical Instruments?

Can Faire also be used with musical instruments similar to Jouer? Like -

- Je fais du violon.

- Je fais de la guitare.

- Je fais de la flûte.

Can Faire & Jouer be used interchangeably with musical instruments? Or is there any exception to this?

Bonjour à tous,

You can use "faire" but you are talking about doing the activity rather than the "playing of the instrument" (jouerto play vs faire = to do).

Take a look here: would" faites-vous de la guitare?" be correct?

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

yes, we can use those two verb forms interchangeably in the description of all activities in sports and music, but it is not correct to apply the verb faire to the subject in the plural, that is, it is not correct to write: je fais les jeux vidéo.
