On a quiz, 'Marie avait deux heures d'avance' was not considered correct. But in the lesson on timeliness, 'early -> avoir [5 minutes] d'avance' was given as a rule. I must be looking right past something here.

Hi Jack,
Marie avait deux heures d'avance = Marie was two hours early
