Hi Cathy,
"...comme je te l'ai demandé." In this sentence the "l'" stands for "le": "...as I demanded it from you. " would be the literal translation. The "le" is "it".

As Chris said, here l' is le, and refers to a pre-mentioned idea:
je t'ai demandé de mettre la table = je te l'ai demandé

Thanks to the both of you.  I was thinking that was the case as the indirect object pronoun was used, but I was unsure.  I truly appreciate the prompt responses.  It truly makes the learning infinitely easier. If I didn't get your feedback, I would be puzzling over this for a long time before I was convinced of my conclusion. Je vous generic!

would be equally valid, but slightly simpler, 
Have you set the table as I asked you?
Je t'ai demandé - Asked of you,
instead of
Je te l'ai demandé - Asked it of you.
