Encore can carry the sense of "still/yet".

Suggest you try https://www.wordreference.com/fren/encore and enter both toujours and encore to understand the range of possible meanings within an appropriate context of course.

Hi Tom,

It would depend upon what it is that you want to express.

Do you want to express "to remember still (continue to) the first time" ? or " to remember always the first time" ?

The differentiation between toujours and encore is tricky business. In many cases, toujours means "again" as in "over and over again" or "still", whereas encore is more of a one-time again.
