devant qui

Hello,

Would the correct way to say "La boulangerie devant qui j'attends est fermée" be "La boulangerie devant où j'attends est fermée"?

Is there an example where you could use 'devant qui' if used with a 'living thing'? For example, would it be correct to say "Le monsieur devant qui je me tiens tousse"?

La boulangerie devant laquelle j'attends est fermée

You could say

La boulangerie j'attends est fermée

Le monsieur devant qui je me tiens tousse

is correct

Bonne Continuation, Nick !

Hi Nick,

You wrote  "Le monsieur devant qui je me tiens tousse"

I don't see any fault with your above proposal. I think it is entirely valid grammatically.

Actually, the version with + qui only applies to living things and not objects. Since la boulangerie is inanimate, devant qui would be wrong in this case.

Chris is right --  I was in too much of a rush earlier.
