How do you say "from the ..."? My guess would be "DE LA ...". However, this can only mean some. What do I do?

Hi Sandra,
Du, de l', de la, des can also mean from the, it all depends on context -
e.g.
Je vous appelle de la cantine = I am calling you from the canteen
Je vous appelle du bureau = I am calling you from the office
Je vous appelle des Etats-Unis = I am calling you from the States
Je vous appelle de l'hôtel = I am calling you from the hotel
Hope this helps!
