côté = side/hand/quarter

Is 'du côté droit' an expression meaning right half of … or, is it more precise to translate as 'on the right side' ? Thanks

Bonjour Andrea,

The translation is correct here although most of the time ‘côté’ means ‘side’.

Explanation for the use of ‘half’: in this sentence, the stage is divided into two parts (two halves) ; one half is on the right and the other is on the left. Hence ‘right half of...’

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée!
