Confusion about "de chez."

Why is it "de chez mes parents?"

«de chez mes parents» - 'of/from my parents (place etc)'. Does the translation fit the context?

I think it might be more like, "the attic OF (de) my parents' house," which makes it more like something we might say in English. Just a guess....
