Can 'que' replace 'à qui'?
Why can't I say this? "La fille que je pense est belle."
This question relates to:French lesson "À + qui, auquel, à laquelle = to whom, what, which (French Relative Pronouns)"
Asked 4 years ago
Hi Katie,
It is because the verb, to think of someone is -
penser à quelqu'un
and you just can't lose the à.
So you can only say:
La fille à qui/à laquelle je pense est...
Hope this helps

Quant à moi, since we have the Nom “La fille” and you wanted say ‘i think of someone’ French;;Je pense à quelqu’un
Then we are better to use the “à”in the expressing without Omitting it
Donc,On écrira “La fille à qui je pense est belle”
