C'est la plus rapide voiture du monde. Is this correct?

It is the fastest car in the world.
C'est la plus rapide voiture du monde.
C'est la voiture la plus rapide du monde.

I answered with the second one, and after much thought, not the first. I asked a french speaking friend and she said the first sounded odd and she would not use it, although she didn't think it was wrong. Can you provide some guidelines?

Thanks

Your friend is correct: only the second version is proper French. In general, the superlative follows the noun.

Hi @Chris, thanks for the quick response. Kwiziq gave me a "Partially correct" mark because it wanted both options to be selected, and I had only selected the one.

Thanks!

Hi Patrick,

I  have checked and we do accept both constructions.

Chris is right in saying the second example is the most correct and I will query the fact that we accept both.
