I also had difficulties understanding the sentences because the audio was too fast for me. However, I understand that the french speak fast and I need to spend a lot of time listening to spoken french for my ears to get used to it.

You're absolutely correct, Maria. Don't sweat too much about how much you get on the first or second listening round. Just keep at it and listen to French speakers as much as you can. It'll sink in without your noticing it. A few months hence and you'll ask yourself how you could ever have NOT understood! ;)
