Hi Drew,
À la fin, means at the end of something
It is followed by a noun as in the exercise -
à la fin du dîner = at the end of the dinner
À la fin de cette période nous trouverons une solution = We'll find a solution at the end of this period
Finalement = Finally
Il nous a finalement dit la vérité = He has finally told us the truth
not to be confused with'
Enfin = at last
Il nous a dit enfin la vérité = He has told us the truth at last
Au fin doesn't exist maybe you were thinking of 'enfin'?
Hope this helps!
