How do I remember the where adverbs come either after or before the verb.

For example : Can « Ainsi le nom » mean « that’s why the name.»?
I can follow that most of the text is in the (futur d'anticipation).
However, I am wondering why the text switched to using the infinitive (entendre), in the last sentence? and why not use the Gerondif -en entendant. like at the beginning of the fourth sentence.

Why is it sur ordre and not sure l'ordre de Napoléon
In the context of "He lived and worked there as a slave until his master emancipated him in 1776." can one use émanciper? It wasn't accepted when I tried it. My dictionary only gave émanciper as the translation for emancipate. Now that I have learned affranchir, I will use it.
Having this question in the quiz, I understand why the answer should be "son". What I don't understand is why there is no "pas" in the negative expression? (n'a oublié pas son billet)?
