This is touched on in the discussion, but I wonder if you can clarify which expressions can be used in the future too? Obviously hier and demain cannot. I realise the first paragraph does specify "past point of view" but there doesn’t seem to be a future equivalent lesson. Thanks, and I’m sorry to add to an already long thread!
Why can't I write "Ton père est dans la prison.?
I think "dans la" & "en" both work in this example. My reasoning is that prison is a physical place.
Seeking clarification on Maartens answer to Randa. The link provided, indicated that 'toujours' could be in either tense. I felt the imparfait was indicated as the action "loving" is ongoing and not finished. Would 'love' to read your response/s.
Utter nonsense. Both those statements (ie, "speak Spanish fuently: or "speak fluent Spanish" are 100% interchangeable. If anyone tells you different, they're not native English speakers (or they're very poorly educated).
I'm getting the impression that the people who are setting these tests are not fluent English speakers.
What does this term mean in the context of a hotel and restaurant ? BTW, thanks for another challenging C1. I cannot yet imagine understanding all of this without the possibility of repetition. Still plodding along with a score of 57/80 with considerable repetition required.
Hi,
In the sentence 'On avait alors, ouvert les rideaux pour découvrir, éberlués..etc'
Why is 'éberlués' not singular to agree with'on'.
Is it because plurality is implied?
Is there a lesson on this to clarify?
Thanks
An Englishman (as distinct from an American) would say "five hundred AND thirty".
