In Burgundy, where I grew up, there is a very popular wine festival that takes place in late January. The Saint-Vincent Tournante celebrates the region's wine-making heritage and honours Saint Vincent, the patron saint of winemakers. This annual event, which rotates among different wine-producing villages, was first organised in 1938 by a local wine brotherhood, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. Each year, a different village hosts the Saint-Vincent, during which visitors can taste its local wines, whose producers often create special cuvées for the occasion. The festivities begin with a procession of winegrowers, who carry statues of Saint Vincent through the village streets, followed by vibrant celebrations with traditional music, food, and of course, plenty of wine. This beloved festival aims to foster community spirit among winemakers while showcasing the richness and diversity of Burgundy's wines.
