It was after WWII that the nudist movement really took off in France, thanks to the creation of its first federation in 1949. Soon, more and more members joined this association and nowadays, about 2.1 million French people practise nudism. If you're looking to enjoy that type of summer holiday [US:vacation], know that nearly 150 nudist beaches are dotted along the French coastline. Among the most famous nudist beaches in France, you'll find the five-hectare naturist beach of Port-Leucate, which is located near the historic city of Narbonne in the Languedoc region. You could also spend your holiday [US: vacation] in Euronat, that can boast of being the biggest naturist resort in Europe, with a 1.5km-long beach on the Médoc peninsula in the Gironde region.
