I was not aware that se dépêcher can often be followed by the preposition "de".
So could I say: "Je me dépêche d'y arriver à l'heure"?
Thank you for your wonderful website. Adelaida.

Hello Adelaida,
Just to add to the other comments, here is a list of similar verbs -
https://french.kwiziq.com/learn/theme/3744352
You would only use 'y' if we know what it referred to previously so as not to repeat it -
I don't think it really works with the example you give. I would use the preposition 'pour' -
Merci de votre gentil commentaire et bonne continuation !
Hi Adelaida,
As I understand it, the form of the verb is "se dépêcher de faire (qch)". To hurry or rush to do (sth)
So perhaps "Je me dépêche de faire ......"
Bonne journée
Jim
Je me dépêche d'y arriver à'l heure is correct. You could also say ...pour y ariver... which stresses the causal connection: to make haste in order to get there in time.
Merci à tous. J'apprends beaucoup avec vos commentaires et vos réponses.
Est-ce qu'on peut dire "j'apprends de vos commentaires"?
